Sr. Marketing Engineer – MV Switchgear

JST Power Equipment is seeking an experienced candidate for a key position in our organization.   This position will require the candidate be an experienced leader within our marketing department and will be primarily responsible for the quotation of medium voltage switchgear projects, and interfacing with the front-end sales and customers as required to support the business.  The individual will also be tasked with interfacing with the internal team of Project Managers and Customer Order Engineers, as well as acting as a subject matter expert for customers and Marketing Engineers on the team.   

Main Accountabilities:

  • Customer Project interface:  Take the lead in reviewing customer’s RFQ/specifications and ensuring our quotations are in compliance with the RFQ.  Work with Product Management, Customer Order Engineering, and the factory to ensure the customer and design specifications are being followed and provide accurate proposals to customers.
  • As an experienced leader, understand and mentor other marketing engineers in reading Single-line diagrams, and specifications, and aid in the configuration of switchgear lineups with both electrical and mechanical components.
  • Work occasionally with the marketing communications department to develop the support literature and collateral material necessary to support existing and new product developments.
  • Participate in customer events including customer visits and trade shows, as required, to support growth of switchgear products.
  • Customer Interface: Work directly with our sales teams, channel partners and end-users to provide technical support, build relationships with and enhance JST’s position in the market and with customers.  
  • Provide guidance and coaching to less experienced associates in the marketing department.
  • Act as a resource for technical and commercial questions for the team.
  • Conduct training both internally and externally to improve product knowledge and penetration of the market.


Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 7+ years of relevant experience in marketing, engineering and/or project management experience.
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of Medium Voltage Air-Insulated Switchgear (5 kV-38 kV) design and operations, construction methods, and applications within various markets.
  • Experience in cost analysis, financial models, margins, and post-order variance reviews.
  • Experience quoting projects in the electrical field, primarily in medium voltage products.
  • Understand and have knowledge of the medium voltage markets; customers, products, and regional demands, and with various market segments like C&I, Utility, EPCs, etc.
  • Knowledge of and experience pricing of packaging products like battery systems and bus duct.
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft Office Suite including but not limited to Xcel, Word and PowerPoint.  
  • Ability to travel to customer meetings ~15-20% of time.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline with 10+ years of experience.
  • Experience working with utilities, industrial customers and/or construction customers in either a front-end sales or marketing role.
  • Experience working in data bases and with data management systems.
  • Salesforce experience
  • Proven communication skills with demonstrated proactive collaboration and effective influencing skills.
