Job description

Task:

JST Power Equipment is seeking an experienced candidate for a key position in our organization.  As Logistics Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth flow of goods across global operations. Primary responsibilities include managing customs compliance, coordinating with freight forwarders, and optimizing logistics processes to minimize costs and maximize efficiency. Serving as the liaison between our company, customs authorities, and transportation providers to ensure timely delivery of shipments while adhering to all relevant regulations.

Requirements:

Basic Qualifications

  • Proven experience in customs compliance, international logistics, or import/export operations.
  • Strong knowledge of customs regulations, tariff classifications, and trade compliance requirements.
  • Familiarity with customs brokerage procedures, incoterms, and shipping documentation.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and communicate with external partners.
  • Experience in SAP ERP systems; Proficient in logistics software, and Microsoft Offices.
  • Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for JST Power Equipment in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, international shipping, or a related field.
  • 3 to 5 + years’ experience working with customs authorities, government agencies, or regulatory bodies.
  • Knowledge of international trade agreements, sanctions programs, and export controls.
  • Multilingual; Spanish, Mandarin, or German, is a plus for communicating with international partners.

 Responsibilities and DUTIES MAY include, but are not limited to, the FOLLOWING:

  • Ensure compliance with all customs regulations and requirements for imports and exports.
  • Prepare and submit necessary documentation, including customs declarations, import/export licenses, and certificates of origin.
  • Coordinate transportation and logistics activities, including freight booking, shipment tracking, and delivery scheduling.
  • Effectively negotiate terms, conditions, insurances, and cost saving initiatives to ensure cost-effective logistics solutions for contracts, service agreements, and best service rates.
  • Work closely with freight forwarders, carriers, and customs brokers to optimize shipping routes and minimize costs and transit times.
  • Classify goods according to tariff schedules and customs regulations.
  • Determine applicable duties, taxes, and fees for imported/exported goods and ensure accurate tariff classification for customs clearance.
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks related to customs compliance, transportation delays, and supply chain disruptions.
  • Develop contingency plans and solutions to address unforeseen challenges and minimize potential negative impacts.
  • Build and maintain relationships with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and transportation providers.
  • Maintain accurate records of shipping documents, customs forms, and compliance records.
  • Manage documentation in accordance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
  • Analyze logistics data and performance metrics to identify opportunities for process improvements and cost optimization.
  • Implement best shipping practices and initiatives to streamline logistics operations and enhance overall efficiency.
  • Working with internal teams, including procurement, supply chain management, and project management, to coordinate logistics activities and support business objectives.
  • Provide guidance and expertise on customs and logistics matters.
